About
Reem Mouasher is a Jordanian-Palestinian artist and painter based in Amman, Jordan. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across the Arab world and in online group shows. Her most recent exhibit at Nabad Gallery, Enchanted Landscapes (2021), alongside the renowned painter Hani Alqam, drew both collectors and critical acclaim.
Her ongoing public art installation, The Kura3a Project, in collaboration with the sculptor Lamia Fakhoury, seeks to democratize and demystify public art. Over several weeks, unique sculptures of turtles (kurka3a in local slang) were hidden around Amman in a scavenger hunt where anyone was invited to participate.
Mouasher’s work embraces her native land as the complex and multifaceted destination it is: one both haunted by bygone eras and yet brimming with possibility. Drawing on both her pastoral and urbanite Levantine heritage, Mouasher’s works explore the beauty of the region’s cities, people, and nature— not only as they exist in physical space but as they linger in memories, nostalgia-soaked dreams, and almost biblical, elemental visions.
Mouasher holds a BFA in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, and a masters in Education for the University of Phoenix, Arizona. She is a board member of LOYAC, Jordan, where she works to empower youth through programs that teach valuable skills and increase personal agency.
Mouasher is available for commissions and inquiries.
